🛍 Coveting

  • This adorable sweater/cardigan from House of Sunny. I saw it on their newsletter a few days ago and was immediately in love with the sausage pup and his little flying scarf!!!!

  • And speaking of sausages, I might just need the Delfina Gue Hotdog bag in every color of the rainbow, but especially in red and sand. A timeless beauty.

  • I saw these beautiful salt and pepper shakers from Yvonne Ellen last month, when they were doing the rounds in the holiday gift guides here on Substack. These shakers were, I believe, made for me and me alone.

💗 Loving

  • My parents enabled my outerwear addiction by gifting me this beautiful chocolate faux fur coat as a Christmas present (left), and then I found the aviator jacket of my dreams on sale at Bimba y Lola—50% off! One unit left! My size! Kismet!—(right). I can’t find it on their website anymore, but you can see more pictures of it here.

  • The world needs to know how much I love the NYX Longwear Slim Lip Pencil in the shade Nude Truffle, a light brownish nude with a colder peachy undertone that is perfect for a little lip contour. I wear it with a clear gloss on top, or if I want to add a little more dimension to the look, I use it to line the outer edge of my lips and then fill in with the Catrice Plumping Lip Liner in the shade 040, a pinkish mauve.

  • I’ve been exploring Asian Beauty brands lately, especially when it comes to haircare. Since I’m letting my blonde grow out and it’s going to take a while before I’m fully back to my natural light brown, I really want to step up my haircare game in the meantime. I don’t have any hair products to recommend just yet—I need to use them for a little bit longer before I report back—but when it comes to skincare, I’m already loving the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. It’s a beautiful formula with super light texture (by far the lightest cleansing oil I’ve ever used) that removes makeup flawlessly.

  • I love this gorgeous off-the-shoulder top from Desigual’s collaboration with M. Christian Lacroix, which I also got on sale last month.

📚 Reading

  • January isn’t over yet and it has already proven to be a very successful reading month for me. I finished Babel, read She’s Always Hungry with my book club, Jazz by Toni Morrison, listened to Havoc by Christopher Bollen and I’m currently reading (and close to finishing) Juno Dawson’s witchy Her Majesty’s Royal Coven. I won’t get into my thoughts on any of these books here, because I’ll be reviewing them all in detail come early February. Stay tuned!

  • New books on my shelves: Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan and A Little Trickerie by Rosanna Pike were recent indie bookshop purchases, both of which had been on my wishlist for a while; 4th Estate has very kindly sent me an ARC of Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito; and I was lucky enough to get some really exciting titles for Christmas: Necrology by Meg Ripley, Saturnalia by Stephanie Feldman, The Eyes Are The Best Part by Monika Kim, The Glutton by A.K. Blakemore, So Fetch by Jennifer Keishin Armstrong, Tyll by Daniel Kehlmann, Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle, Death in Venice by Thomas Mann and Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.

🎬 Watching

Love Lies Bleeding (2024)
  • After the inevitable Hallmark overdose of December, I’m happy to return to my cinematic roots. My favorite film so far has been Civil War which, given the current state of the world, was almost unbearable to watch.

  • I also loved (immensely!) Love Lies Bleeding and enjoyed, to various degrees, Past Lives, Purple Noon, Whiplash and Anora.

  • I’ve been loving the new seasons of Alpha Males, Queer Eye and The Sex Lives of College Girls, and have already watched the entire season of Love is Blind Germany (justice for Hanni!). In general, I’ve been trying to watch less tv and spend that time reading instead, which seems to be paying off. When I’m watching tv, I’m mostly focusing on new seasons of shows I already know and love.
